Join us for an interactive introduction to some of the common edible and medicinal plants of the Indiana Dunes. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the human history of the region, with a focus on the incredibly sophisticated Native American cultures. We will cover some of the essential beliefs and practices (protocol) that indigenous peoples use when interacting with plants for use as food or medicine. These are especially important because they ensure the health of our ecosystems for future generations—and these practices are inherently sustainable! We will learn how to identify, gather and use 10 locally abundant plants for food and medicine in the early fall in our region.
Ages 12+, $10 per person.
Tickets are limited, and sold on a first come, first served basis. Please note participants under 18 years old will require an adult to register for the event to attend with them.
