Description
In this 4-hr introductory workshop, students will learn the art of block printmaking using easy-cutting linoleum. There will be a series of quick demos throughout the class on safe carving practices, how to print a perfect print, how to use the ink to layer color to achieve unusual results with just one block, and how creating a consistent edition or series of lookalike prints elevates your practice. Students are encouraged to bring a simple idea to carve.
Bring a light snack and a beverage.
No prior drawing or printmaking skills required. All are welcome!
About the instructor: Denise Markbreit is the founder of Print House, formerly Asheville Print Studio. Print House is a an analog print studio utilizing green practices that serves as a learning center, gallery, workspace and community shop. She is a lifelong printmaker and educator with a deep knowledge of print, painting, mixed media and bookmaking processes. Her prints, constructions, mixed media pieces, textiles and jewelry is held in collections world wide.
