About Allen Sinai
Dr. Allen Sinai is Chief Global Economist/Strategist and President of Decision Economics, Inc. (DE), an economic forecasting, information, and advisory firm located in Boston and New York.
Allen’s professional career spans some 60 years, in academics, forecasting, teaching and research, consulting and advisory work to provide actionable fundamental information for bottom-line decisions over a wide range of Clients and audiences. During this time, Allen has provided stunningly accurate and timely forecasts of future trends—short- and long-run—again and again, often going against the grain with minority views and perspectives that have come into being.
Allen has held tenured and visiting professorships at the University of Illinois in Chicago, MIT, Boston University, NYU and Brandeis, published over 100 articles in the scientific academic literature, organized and participated in dozens of Conferences and Panels, provided scores of Congressional Testimonies, as well as arguably perhaps the most media coverage and citations of any economist ever, on the U.S. and Global economies, monetary and fiscal policies, financial markets and investments, and the fundamental backdrop within which decision makers use objective data and research-based knowledge. Politically Non-Partisan, Allen has advised and consulted with both Democratic and Republican Presidents and their Administration as well as Congress and on private sector consulting projects. He has given hundreds of talks around the world on the U.S. and Global economies, markets, policies, Washington politics, geopolitics, and societal issues.
Allen has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan (Honors) and M.A. and Ph.D. (1969) degrees in Economics from Northwestern University. He has been married to Lee Etsten Sinai for 62 years. The Sinais have two children and five grandchildren and reside in Lexington and Edgartown, MA.
