Jack Tucker Off Broadway - "The One Man Theatric Comedy Show"
Jack Tucker, created by award-winning performer and producer Zach Zucker, is a comedic character fighting to save his marriage, regain his son’s respect, and do whatever it takes to hit the big time. Often shoeless and inexplicably soaking wet, Tucker is a blend of inspiration from iconic performers like Andy Kaufman and Robin Williams, and the absurdist “anti-comedy” of Tim Heidecker and Sacha Baron Cohen, with whom Zucker shares training from the École Philippe Gaulier clown school in France. This character is a modern twist on timeless physical comedy and vaudevillian performances, positioning Zucker as a key figure in the new generation of must-see entertainers.
As Jason Zinoman of The New York Times notes, “it’s a younger generation than the new vaudevillians like Bill Irwin and David Shiner, but this group has the same inventiveness, ambition and dedication to breathing new life into old shtick. But their work is more visceral and topical... and Zucker has been at the center of this movement.” Tucker has sold out international tours across North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, and Asia, with notable performances at festivals and venues like Just For Laughs, Edinburgh Fringe, and multiple Off-Broadway extensions at SoHo Playhouse and The Connelly Theater in NYC. Zucker’s videos have garnered over 40 million views in the past year, attracting fans who show up in unofficial merchandise and engage with the show like a rock concert.
Zucker’s longtime collaborator and director, Jonny Woolley, enhances the show’s theatrical experience with intricate sound design, creating a unique style dubbed ‘jazz-clown.’ With additional talents like jazz musician Jonathan Dely and rollerskating animator Dylan Woodley, the show promises a unique experience each night. Jack Tucker represents the triumph of nontraditional performance and perseverance, embodying the spirit of an underdog who, despite his flaws, delivers the greatest night of his life through sheer determination and self-belief.
