Winemaker James Rahn went from art school to the United States Marine Corps to becoming one of Chicago’s top sommeliers, to being one of the top U.S. winemakers on the rise. Numerous bottles from James Rahn Wine Co. can be found on The Bighorn shelves, but many of his bottlings are limited production and only sold on a pre-sell basis., making them hard to come by. Vanessa has been geeking out over his wines since they day she first tasted his Gruner Veltliner over two years ago, and she is beaming with enthusiasm over the fact that he will be spending one evening at The Bighorn where he will share his vino, story, and perspective with us!
If you have an interest in terroir-driven, small-batch, low-intervention wines that truly tell a story, call all of your pals and get your tickets now. James Rahn is the master of the light-bodied reds, and unique, non-blended grapes most commonly found in Jura, France. He will teach us what makes Willamette Valley special, and he will share his story about how he made the transition from the life of a fine dining Somm to the life of an Oregon-based winemaker.
