Description

A Walk Through Charter Award-Winning Glenwood Park

This Jane’s Walk, taking place in Glenwood Park, focuses on themes of Art & Architecture and Environment.

What does intentional neighborhood design actually look like on the ground?

Join Nicholas Mulkey of CNU Atlanta and Liza Mueller, landscape planner and designer, for a walk through Glenwood Park, one of Atlanta's most celebrated examples of Traditional Neighborhood Development. Designed in 2001 by Dover Kohl and TSW, the neighborhood won a Charter Award in 2003 for its plan to transform a former industrial site into a walkable, connected community. The walk examines the urbanism principles that shaped it, from its street grid and building types to its relationship with the Atlanta Beltline, which was conceived years after the neighborhood's original plan.

About the Walk Leader

Nicholas Mulkey leads CNU Atlanta, the local chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism, whose mission is to champion people-centered urbanism in Atlanta and throughout the Greater South. Learn more at cnuatl.org.

Liza Mueller is a landscape planner and designer. She is a champion of green space, parks, and good urbanism in her work and advocacy, and was one of the original founders of the CNU Atlanta Chapter.
