An Epic Quest Along the Atlanta Beltline
This Jane’s Walk, taking place on the Eastside Beltline, focuses on themes of literature, urban life, and urban development.
What if a walk could be an epic journey?
Join Robert Barsky, author of The Beltline Chronicles, for a literary stroll from 10th and Monroe to Ponce City Market.
Along the way, Robert will read from his book of poetry, following "George," the fictional poet whose memories trace the history of the Beltline and the stories embedded in each stretch of trail. The walk draws on the tradition of great literary journeys, from Homer's Odyssey to James Baldwin's Another Country, making the case that Atlanta's Beltline is its own kind of epic.
Participants are invited to make a donation of their choice to a local organization supporting people experiencing homelessness in exchange for a copy of the book.

Robert Barsky is a Guggenheim Fellow, professor, and author of The Beltline Chronicles. He has led Jane's Walks before and loves introducing people to the Beltline through the lens of literature and the epic tradition. Learn more at robertbarsky.org.
About Jane’s Walk
Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.
The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.

Ending Point: Ponce City Market

Accessibility: Terrain: Paved. This event IS wheelchair accessible.
What to Bring: Comfortable clothing for a leisurely stroll.
This walk takes place rain or shine.
