How do you save a neighborhood from itself?
Join Alana Reed and community legend Don Bender for a walk through the history of Little 5 Points — from its origins as a streetcar hub in the late 1800s through its decline in the 1960s and the hard-won revival that followed.
Don was at the center of the activism that stopped a planned highway from cutting through the neighborhood in the 1970s and 80s, preserving the character that makes L5P what it is today.
The walk covers the neighborhood's architecture, its cultural landmarks, legacy businesses, and the people who fought to keep it all intact.
About the Walk Leaders
Alana Reed is a community organizer and co-founder of Little 5 Points Official. Don Bender is a longtime community developer whose activism in the 1970s and 80s helped preserve and shape the neighborhood we know today. Learn more at little5pointsofficial.com.
About Jane’s Walk
Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.
The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.

Arrive Early to check-in with your walk leader or MODA volunteer.
Staring Point & Ending Point: Little 5 Points Community Center, 1083 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
Distance of Route: 1.4 miles
Duration of Walk: 90 minutes
Walk Language: English
Accessibility: Combination of paved and unpaved. Some sidewalks and pavements are uneven. This event IS wheelchair accessible. Parking is free.
What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, water.
This walk takes place rain or shine. In the event of lightning, all registered attendees will be notified of cancellation by email.
