This month we will discuss Vianne, by Joanne Harris. For those of you who can't join us in person, there are five virtual tickets available by using this link.

About the Book

Vianne by Joanne Harris is a lush, atmospheric novella that returns readers to the enchanting world first introduced in Chocolat. Told from Vianne Rocher’s intimate perspective, the story follows her quiet new life on a houseboat moored along the River Seine—far from the little French village where her magic once stirred change and controversy.

Vianne longs for stability for her daughters, Anouk and Rosette, and tries to suppress the whisper of the wind that once guided her wandering footsteps. But when a mysterious letter arrives at her door, it awakens the parts of herself she has tried to silence: the witch, the wanderer, the woman who once reshaped lives with a bit of courage and a touch of magic.

Sensual, reflective, and tinged with the bittersweet flavor of Harris’s signature magical realism, Vianne is a story about motherhood, identity, and the quiet, irresistible pull of who we truly are. It’s a must-read for fans of Chocolat and anyone who loves a tale woven with mystery, memory, and just a hint of enchantment.
