Jason Blake

Jason Blake is a Warr Guitarist from Chicago, Illinois. The Warr Guitar is a twelve-string instrument incorporating the range of a guitar and bass. It is played by tapping the strings, a technique known as touchstyle guitar. Blake plays with the progressive instrumental trio, Aziola Cry, who recently released their album, “The Ironic Divide,” on the Sensory Records label and the progressive rock trio, Backward Sky Falling.

For his solo work, Blake pushes the boundaries of the instrument while incorporating elements of progressive rock, ambient, and classical. Signed to Wayfarer Records, Blake released his first album for the label in June of 2021. Called "an aural feast of different sounds," by Sea of Tranquility, the album, “Fictional Mirrors” was the first album of a planned progressive ambient trilogy.

Now, Blake returns with “Imaginary Cages,” a six-song progressive rock suite of solo Warr guitar, Imaginary Cages features some of Blake‘s most complicated work to date, boasting technical prowess in a bold but subdued setting. With delicate and tranquil chorus-drenched ambience, Jason Blake executes forty minutes of precision musicianship with no overdubs.

Tim Seisser

Tim Seisser grew up in Arlington Heights, IL, where he began playing bass at age thirteen. Quickly progressing technically and musically, he started gigging at age sixteen in the Chicagoland-area. As a high school senior in 2001, he traveled to New York City with the jazz big band YJED to perform at the 6th Annual Essentially Ellington Festival at Lincoln Center. That same year, Tim was named recipient of the Robert Calisch Fine Arts award.
Tim moved to Chicago in 2004 and began his career as a full-time musician. It did not take long to become one of the city’s most in-demand sidemen/bassists. His fluidity between genres has afforded him the opportunity to perform with a wide range of talent, including smooth jazz guitarist Nick Colionne, virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Howard Levy, drummer/producer Makaya McCraven, jazz/fusion keyboardist Greg Spero, Guitarist Marcus Rezak, Brazilian jazz artist Luciano Antonio, singer songwriter Tim Stop, and many more. In 2015, Tim joined internationally acclaimed progressive rock group District 97. In addition to his activities with District 97 and his own jazz/fusion trio TS3, Tim can regularly be seen performing with jazz/fusion horn band New Nostalgia, and freelancing all over the midwest. Tim boasts an impressive recording resume and has appeared on recordings alongside Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson), Bob Minzter, Will Kennedy (The Yellowjackets), Allen Vizzutti (jazz trumpet), and Khari Parker (Destiny’s Child, Boz Scaggs, George Benson), among others.

Sonus Umbra

Greetings, furry mammals. We are Sonus Umbra: A musical collective that has been making composed, coordinated noises for more than three decades. We play an approximation to what the librarians call "prog rock" and we are just tickled pink to be out of self-imposed isolation and return to the stage. During lockdown we released a new album called "A Sky Full Of Ghosts" - or ASFOG between friends - and we will be playing much of that album in 2022, along with selections from our history. Get your shot, and come to the show.
