Description
Join us for a captivating night of music with Alex Upton, the acclaimed Memphis-based saxophonist, composer, and educator whose artistry bridges tradition and innovation. With a sound that’s both rooted in jazz history and reaching boldly toward the future, Alex brings a unique and powerful voice to every performance.
A nationally awarded soloist and First Prize winner of the 2022 North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Artist Competition, Alex has performed and recorded alongside jazz luminaries including Rahsaan Barber, Rachel Therrien, Ted Ludwig, Baron Tymas, Stephen Anderson, and James Sexton. Their recent feature as a soloist at the 2023 NASA Biennial Conference—premiering Christian McBride’s Cold Chicken Suite—showcased Alex’s exceptional versatility and command as both an interpreter and improviser. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of today’s most exciting soloists live in concert.
