Thank you for supporting North Georgia Family Partners, a Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia. Our non-profit is aimed at serving the at-risk families of Pickens County and a few in Gilmer County. Our target families are those who are prenatal through the age of 5. We are the only agency in this county serving families through home visits bi-monthly with prevention services. We use an evidence-based curriculum known as Parents as Teachers. Our Parent Educators provide parents with practical skill support, knowledge and education on age-appropriate child development, early literacy skills, behaviors, milestones, and more. We also administer developmental screenings to detect any early delays. We are the support moms need postpartum to help navigate at home with a newborn. We empower parents with necessary skills to address risk factors that prevent child abuse. We also host monthly group connections ranging from fun activities for the whole family, to educational support like budgeting.
On top of parent education, and preparing children for school readiness, we also assist families with the resources they need. We provide a book and activity for every visit, diapers and wipes as needed. We help with resumes, job applications, GED placement, CAPS, WIC, Food stamps, Medicaid and more. If the family has a nutritional need, we connect them to local food banks and assistance with utilities. A reward for our families for participating in our program is called Kids Kash. Thanks to the generous donations from our community, every Christmas, we provide (a lot of) presents for not only the kids on our program, but their siblings who have aged out as well, alleviating that stressor for the family.
