Celebrating the Seven Species of Tu BiShvat with Jewish Vegan Life
Date: Sunday, February 1
Time: 2:00–4:30 PM
Location: Wilshire Boulevard Temple Glazer Campus (Koreatown)
Tickets: $25
Most people know Tu BiShvat as the birthday of the trees, but there’s so much more!
Traditionally on Tu BiShvat , we taste the Seven Species as a way of honoring the land, the harvest, and our connection to nature. This immersive afternoon invites you to experience the holiday more deeply through food, tradition, and shared table.
Jewish Food Lab, in partnership with Jewish Vegan Life, hosts a guided tasting and recipe demo led by plant-based expert, recipe developer, and author Stephanie Dreyer. Together, we’ll explore wheat, barley, dates, figs, olives, pomegranates, and grapes through seasonal dishes, fresh ideas, and ritual.
Enjoy tastings, cooking demonstrations, and simple take-home inspiration for your own Tu BiShvat celebration. Rabbi Leah Lewis will share easy, beautiful rituals you can bring to your family table.
Delicious demos include:
- Za’atar wheat berry salad with cucumber, herbs, and lemon-tahini dressing
- Salted date bark
- Roasted grapes with thyme and cracked black pepper, served with tahini-smeared crostini
- Pomegranate walnut crumble bars
Each participant will receive a custom recipe booklet and a copy of the Jewish Vegan Life Tu BiShvat Haggadah.
