Description

Please join us for our next Joshua House Volunteer Training Evening, an ongoing gathering designed to strengthen, encourage, and equip the people who help make recovery community possible.

This session will feature practical training in Trauma-Informed Care led by Joshua House Team. The evening will explore how trauma-informed practices can strengthen the various roles people serve in throughout Joshua House, helping us better support men in recovery with wisdom, compassion, healthy boundaries, and understanding.

There will also be opportunity for discussion, questions, volunteer updates, and connection with members of the Joshua House leadership team, including Jane Cooper, Manager of Volunteers, and Executive Director Jim Heuving.

These evenings are designed not only to provide information, but to help us grow together in confidence, capability, and community as we serve men rebuilding their lives from addiction.

This training is especially encouraged for:

  • Current Joshua House volunteers

  • Joshua House Leaders in Training (LITs)

  • Staff and residents interested in leadership and recovery care

  • Community and church members interested in learning more

  • Ministry and community partners exploring volunteer involvement

Whether you are already actively serving or simply curious about becoming involved, you are warmly invited to attend.

Topics throughout the evening will include:

  • Trauma-Informed Care in recovery ministry

  • Volunteer support and development

  • Q&A and discussion time

  • Volunteer paperwork and onboarding updates

  • Future volunteer opportunities at Joshua House

These training evenings will continue approximately every two to three months as part of our ongoing effort to build a strong, healthy, and capable volunteer community.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Bringing the Community Together

Joshua House Recovery Ministries exists to restore men from addiction to wholeness.

Based in Abbotsford and Chilliwack, we offer a Christian faith-based, residential recovery program where men rebuild their lives through community, structure, and purposeful growth. Each year, hundreds of men come through our doors seeking a way out of addiction—and find something more than sobriety. They find belonging, responsibility, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Our model is simple but powerful: community is the cure. Through shared living, group-based support, meaningful work, and spiritual formation, men learn to live differently—not just for a season, but for life. From our rural campus at The Creek to our in-care and after-care homes, we walk alongside each resident through every stage of recovery.

This work doesn’t happen alone. It’s made possible by people like you—those who give, volunteer, partner, and show up. When you support Joshua House, you’re not just funding a program—you’re helping rebuild lives, restore families, and strengthen our communities.

Come see it for yourself.
