Join us for our next Joshua House Volunteer Training Evening, an ongoing gathering designed to strengthen, encourage, and equip the people who help make recovery community possible.
This session will feature two important presentations that speak directly to the realities of addiction recovery and the work of restoration.
The Path from Trauma to Addiction
Ron Demers, a longtime volunteer teacher at Joshua House whose ministry focuses on deeper healing, renewal, and lasting transformation, will lead a discussion exploring the connection between trauma and addiction. Drawing on years of experience and learning, Ron will help us better understand how trauma shapes behaviour, relationships, and recovery. This presentation will provide practical insights for anyone serving men rebuilding their lives.
New Program Development at the Creek
Cliff Viljoen, Joshua House Associate Program Director, will introduce a new curriculum that will be piloted at the Creek. Participants will receive an early look at how Joshua House is strengthening its recovery programming and helping men develop the tools, habits, and supports needed for lasting change.
There will also be opportunities for discussion, questions, volunteer updates, and connection with members of the Joshua House leadership team.
This training is especially encouraged for:
• Current Joshua House volunteers
• Joshua House Leaders in Training (LITs)
• Staff and residents interested in leadership and recovery care
• Community and church members interested in learning more
• Ministry and community partners exploring volunteer involvement
Topics throughout the evening will include:

• Practical insights for supporting men in recovery

• Q&A and discussion time
• Future volunteer opportunities at Joshua House
