The Columbus Guitar Society, founded by a dedicated group of classical guitarists in 1992, has grown to be one of the country’s most successful guitar societies. Under the leadership of Artistic Director, Eugene Braig, the CGS is the only organization to offer comprehensive programming for the classical guitar in the Central Ohio region.
Praised by The Washington Post for her “mesmerizing” and “stirring” performances, JIJI is an adventurous guitarist known for her virtuosity and command of diverse repertoire. Equally at home with both acoustic and electric guitar, her concert programs range from traditional and contemporary classical to free improvisation. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, she was the first guitarist in 30 years to secure first prize in the Concert Artists Guild Competition. Beyond her musical pursuits, JIJI is a committed educator, now serving as Associate Professor of Music in Guitar at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Praised for her brilliant performances and “mesmerizing grace,” Danbi Um, a Menuhin International Violin Competition Silver Medalist and Naumburg International Violin Competition prizewinner, showcases her virtuosity and interpretive sensitivity in captivating concertos, intimate solo recitals and enriching chamber collaborations.
Embark on a musical journey as the enthralling artistry of guitarist JIJI and violinist Danbi Um intertwines classical traditions with contemporary innovation.
