Punk Rock Legend Joe Keithley Brings Solo Show to the Kootenays with The Honeymans
Doors at 7:30 - Music at 8pm
Canadian punk icon Joe Keithley, frontman of D.O.A., is hitting the Kootenays for a rare run of solo shows that blend raw storytelling, stripped-down music, and decades of punk rock history. Armed with his electric guitar, Keithley delivers unfiltered stories from the road, sharp takes on current events, and classic D.O.A. songs reworked in a direct, honest format. Joe has helped define punk worldwide and still brings the same energy that started it all.
The Honeymans will be supporting the shows. After a twenty-plus-year break, they’re back with a new album, the pulp mill crew bus, and just enough wear and tear to make it hard to load gear. Their set blends older material with songs from Time Apart, their latest release. Ask your parents…. they might remember.
Formed in 1997 in the small pulp mill town of Hinton, Alberta, The Smelters are a four-piece punk rock band built on friendship, energy, and a love for raw, honest three-chord punk. Made up of lifelong friends Danny, Scotty, Gordy, and Jonny, the band quickly developed their signature dual-rhythm guitar sound and catchy, high-energy style while playing anywhere they could between school, careers, and family life. After releasing their first full-length album in 2000 and later going on hiatus, the original lineup reunited years later with renewed passion, releasing their second album, Burnin’ Dirt, in 2022 on Mom’s Basement Records. Since returning, The Smelters have toured Europe, played renowned punk festival Punk Rock Raduno, and continue winning over crowds with their fast, fun, Ramones-inspired punk rock that proves the spirit of classic punk is still alive and well.
These shows are a chance to see a true punk pioneer up close. If you know, you know. If you don’t, this is a good place to start. Bring your kids.
