JOHN KIMSEY & THE TWISTED ROOTS QUARTET
John Kimsey's original songs twist the roots, drawing on homegrown Southern music styles to map the highways, byways and lowdown dirty ways of contemporary American politics and culture. Singer/guitarist Kimsey's comrades in this effort are Lia McCoo (vocals, flutes, percussion), Morry Fiddler (keyboards), Steve Hashimoto (bass), and Brad Newton (congas, percussion) -- aka the Twisted Roots Quartet. Their unique blend of soulful stylings, spiky wit and astral Americana has been described as "Ry Cooder meets Robyn Hitchcock,” and by DePaul University chaplain Anthony Nicotera as  "music to inspire the soul and charge your commitment to peace and justice." To get a taste of how the group will sound at Uncommon Ground, check out their album, Live at the Liberry, on Bandcamp. Also, on 3/27, JK & co will debut a bunch of new songs from their forthcoming album, The Quiet Part Out Loud.

BIG HAIR BIG TROUBLE
Big Hair Big Trouble! is a duo comprised of longtime Chicago music veterans Ellis Clark (also lead singer for Social Act, former member of the legendary late 70’s teenage punk band Epicycle, former producer and bassist for the much acclaimed 90’s band The Chamber Strings) & Ary Jeebie (also lead singer of the well loved Amazing Heeby Jeebies) and renown Chicago painter when she’s not busy doing music. Theirs is a blend of the best 60s/70s country classics, with a hint of rockabilly and a tinge of other “weirdness”.  You’ll appreciate their close harmonized vocals and acoustically performed set of songs you love with a few originals thrown in. Hear their music now on YouTube. A Big Hair Big Trouble! full album due out this year.
