Description

Grammy Award-winning mandolinist John Reischman light-heartedly refers to his twice-Juno nominated group The Jaybirds as a "gateway bluegrass band" - roots music with enough drive and energy to be true bluegrass, but folky enough to be perfect for any audience. Big vocal harmonies and impeccable instrumental playing define this group.

Reischman holds a global reputation as a "West coast mandolin master" (Bluegrass Today). From his years playing with Tony Rice (arguably bluegrass's greatest guitarist), to collaborating with luminaries like Chris Thile and Molly Tuttle, Reischman has been the defining sound of West Coast acoustic music for four decades and “one of the world’s undisputed masters” of the mandolin (Bluegrass Unlimited).

"Melding hard-won bluegrass chops, great songwriting, superb ensemble playing, and a tight-knit sound many bands never achieve, John Reischman and the Jaybirds have forged a unique and utterly engaging style [...]."

- Bluegrass Unlimited
