Description

Josh + Bex are a Dream Folk duo from the Okanagan Valley of BC. Their spellbinding harmonies and honed yet rustic sound,

meet at the intersection of hope and sorrow as they intuitively and vulnerably craft songs that explore the wondrous realm of

the human experience. Their sound is an alt folk fusion, reminiscent of Alison Krauss/Robert Plant meets Camp.

The pair have consecutively placed in the Kelowna Now's top-three bands/musicians since 2020, giving them wide recognition throughout the Okanagan Valley and beyond. The duo received their festival start, after winning the local Emerging Artist contest, at the internationally acclaimed Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival in 2019. Most recently, they warmed up the stage with Bahama's and The Paper Kites at Red Bird Brewing's Nest Fest '23 and played Kelowna’s premier indie winter festival, Fireside Festival (2018, 2021, 2023). Additionally, they had the opportunity to perform at the Jasper Folk Music Festival in September '23. Catch them this summer, at Saskatchewan's Napatak Ramble, July 5th and 6th.

Josh + Bex released their self-titled EP in 2019. Everything is Everything is Josh + Bex latest full-length dream folk production, released in 2022. Whimsical and illuminating—these songs bridge the audience from the physical to the metaphysical world. They release their newest work—a 5-song EP, Stoned in Paradise, in the spring of 2024. They will take this new collection of songs on the road this spring, summer and fall with western Canadian tours planned in BC, AB and SK.

"Josh + Bex are staples in the BC music scene" - Chris Walker (CBC Daybreak South)
"Josh + Bex are the perfect mix of east and west coast. Together they create a new sound that draws from deep, ancient feelings and places" - Miles Overn (EIKelowna)
"Josh + Bex embody the emotion and energy of the world we live in, and the nature around us. Their music captivates your spirit and ears" - Jen Wagner (The Anchor)

Like all good stories, this is a story rooted in love.

The seeds of this story were planted way back in the 1970's, when I, Lalita, moved to Kaleden and met the Hayter family. As a youth I would love, laugh, dance, sing, and play on these lands with the Hayter cousins Kris and Myron, eating Grandma Hayters cinnamon toast after school. This family would take over my heart.

Life would happen and we would lose the Hayter cousins at a young age. Grief would move my feet to travel, but eventually these feet would bring me back home to raise my own family.

To return a lifetime later to these lands and these beautiful people completes a circle in my life, full bloom.

It is my honor to be given the opportunity to operate Frog City Cafe with my husband and hold space for love, laughter, dancing, singing, and playing.

This is a love story. This is Frog City Cafe.
