Joy Clark returns home for a special Halloween show
New Orleans, LA – Harvey, Louisiana native ground-breaking Americana phenom Joy Clark caps her homecoming month with a very special show at the Broadside. In a dizzying ascent to the national stage, Joy has gone from a frequent flyer at coffee houses and small venues in New Orleans to a new face on national television, music magazine covers, and legendary stages including Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Any of her individual skills as a vocalist, guitarist or songwriter are worthy of the recognition she’s been receiving, and the combination of the three is spellbinding. Her success has kept her on the road almost constantly, and at home appearances are rare.
For this Halloween weekend show she’ll perform with her trio and be joined on the bill by Roots slide-guitarist and songwriter Marc Stone, psychedelic soul shaman Papa Mali and west bank bred drum and percussion upstart Donald Magee. In addition to everyone bringing their original music to the proceedings, the spirits of departed New Orleans masters Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Big Al Carson and others will be celebrated throughout the show, with some cross-bandjamming along the way. The show takes place October 29th at the Broadside Theater.
