No Thyme to Cook
14624 Solomons Island Road SouthJoin us for a delightful cooking demonstration inspired by the iconic Julia Child—America’s beloved chef who brought French cuisine into our homes with joy, humor, and a fearless spirit. In this immersive class, you’ll watch our chef recreate some of Julia’s most memorable dishes, all while sharing classic techniques, helpful tips, and stories that celebrate her enduring legacy.
Paula J. Johnson is the Smithsonian’s curator of American food history at the National Museum of American History, where she leads collecting, research, and public programming on American food and wine history and material culture as part of the museum’s American Food History Project. A key figure behind the Smithsonian’s landmark Julia Child display, Johnson was among the original curators who collected and helped steward Julia Child’s home kitchen for the museum, and she has shared the kitchen’s design, tools, and stories through museum interpretation and her new book Julia Child’s Kitchen.
