Description

In partnership with The Historic Alberta House and Vegan Syria, Stay Litt PDX presents “July Jamma Juke!” - a “Sinners” themed film fundraising event for Briauna Skye McKizzie’s feature film, Killing Kyle (currently in pre-production).

With your admission, you will enjoy complimentary catering and non-alcoholic beverages by Vegan Syria, a free Irish dance lesson in true Sinner's style ;), a photo booth area, and the opportunity to peruse the booths of local, BIPOC vendors.

Current vendors are Tattoos by Breedimensional*,  Crochet Designs by Nathanial Owens,  Mulberry Jaan, and more.

So please, don your favorite look from the film "Sinners," and come support an emerging group of creatives on July 4, 2025.

Who’s invited: Everyone who is cool and down with things like DEI, accessibility, women having rights, trans people having rights…you know the cool cats.

Event: 5pm - 9:30 PM

Location: 5131 NE 23rd Portland, OR

Dance lesson by Phil Meehan 6:15pm - 6:45pm

Location: 5131 NE 23rd Portland, OR

Dress: A costume! Preferably in the style of any decade represented in the film Sinners. (1920s - the future)

Accessibility info: There is a wheel chair accessible ramp on-site, free street parking, and 3, single occupant, gender neutral bathrooms.

Cost: Sliding scale tickets from $15 - $50 (all proceeds will go to production costs of the film and toward paying for catering and the DJ for the event).

If you need a helping hand to come due to being alive during late-stage capitalist,  please simply Venmo $5 to the @staylittpdx Venmo and leave “reservation” as a comment. RSVP required!

This is a safer space which means the space will not tolerate any hateful behavior toward historically marginalized groups including cultural appropriation. While the film celebrates a diversity of cultures, that does not mean it’s appropriate to wear other people’s culture as a costume. If you’re thinking “should I wear this?” maybe just don’t ;). Instead, simply throw on a flapper dress or a fake mustache and call it a day!

In honor of the event, and in an effort to raise more funds for Briauna's film, Bree will be drawing during the event (not tattooing) and offering up exclusive Sinners themed tattoos and one-of-kind "Killing Kyle" tattoos. These tattoos will only be available for selection on July 4th at the event. They'll be offered on a sliding scale of $15 - $75, and you can schedule your appointment with Bree, at their studio on a separate date within a mutually agreed upon timeframe. :) We will post the available flash options on Thursday, July 3rd!
