Presented by Brady Productions, Ol' Rooster Records in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse.
Jungaji and his band are proud to launch his debut solo album Betting On Blak — a powerful collection of contemporary cultural storytelling through soul, roots, and First Nations fusion. With special guests Toni Janke + Band and rising artist Rudy Matoy, this is a night not to be missed.
A proud Western Gugu Yalanji and Birrigubba songman, Jungaji’s music journey spans over three decades — from the charting 90s R&B of Inala’s Aim 4 More to a deep cultural reawakening that has shaped his solo path.
Now known as “Jungaji” (meaning rock, strength, and knowledge), his creative expression spans music, visual art, theatre, and advocacy. His work speaks to resilience, connection, and cultural pride.
The ‘Betting On Blak’ album is a collection of profoundly meaningful tracks, including two songs in Gugu Yalanji language: 'Gummy Bamarra', which received a Queensland Music Award, and 'Kalkurr', where Jungaji collaborates in the studio with his youngest son, Dean Brady.
Come celebrate a landmark moment in Australian music—where ancient songlines meet modern storytelling in a truly unforgettable live experience.
Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s home for contemporary culture, a magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River.
As Brisbane City Council’s premier arts venue, the much-loved building stages more than 1250 performances a year including a program of festivals, as well as hundreds of events and functions from weddings to conferences, all the while housing heritage-listed graffiti, riverside bars and restaurants, visual arts exhibitions and of course the stories of all who have ventured, laughed and shared memories within its living walls.
