Description
Junie B. Jones The Musical JR. is a lively 60-minute one-act Music Theatre International adaptation based on four popular children's books by Barbara Park. The story opens with Junie B. Jones opening her brand-new, Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal to document her wild adventures entering the first grade at Clarence Somebody-or-Other Elementary School. First grade brings massive changes: her former best friend Lucille ditches her for twin new best friends, leaving Junie B. feeling lost. Soon, she bonds with Herb, the friendly new kid in Mr. Scary's class. As the school year rolls on, Junie struggles to read the blackboard and discovers she needs stylish purple-plastic glasses, leading to initial worries about what her classmates will think. Along the way, she interacts with the kind cafeteria lady Mrs. Gutzman and prepares for an intense upcoming kickball tournament alongside a school halftime show. Through her everyday elementary school triumphs and trials, Junie B. learns valuable lessons about friendship, acceptance, and turning difficult moments into positive ones.
