We are honored to welcome Rabbi Meir Azari, Senior Rabbi of the Beit Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism in Tel Aviv–Jaffa, who will join us this Shabbat to share reflections and updates on the current situation in Israel, including the impact of the war with Iran and the broader challenges and opportunities facing Israeli society today.
Rabbi Azari has led the Beit Daniel Centers since 1991, guiding their growth into four vibrant congregations serving the Tel Aviv–Jaffa region. A graduate of Haifa University and ordained at Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem, he has long been a leading voice for Progressive Judaism in Israel. He has served as Executive Director of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism, chaired the Israeli Council of Reform Rabbis (MARAM), and spent more than two decades on the Board of the Jewish Agency.
An internationally recognized leader and teacher, Rabbi Azari is the author of several books, most recently Lighting the Way: On Jewish Leadership (2024). We look forward to learning from his perspective and deep experience during this critical moment for Israel and the Jewish people.
