About Kathie Bodily
Kathie Bodily, born Dec 7, 1948, passed on July 26, 2023 from pancreatic cancer at her home in Huntington, NY surrounded by loving family and friends.
Kathie moved to New York City from Ogden, UT after high school. There she met the love of her life, Michael Rothbard (deceased 2009). Rothbard and Bodily created the Inter-Media Arts Center (IMAC). This non-profit, innovative, and highly respected venue brought video and performing arts to Long Island. It provided a platform for international and local artists to delight audiences for 30 years. Kathie was valued for her compassionate interactions with all members of the community.
Also an artist, skilled gardener and designer, Kathie worked with fused glass, and acted as general contractor to build her home into an exquisite sanctuary. She looked for the bright side of every situation. Always the consummate foodie and gourmet cook, when life gave you lemons, Kathie made Passion Fruit Cocktails. Living a life of joy and grace, she had a galaxy of eclectic family and friends who span the nation and globe and who will miss her sage wisdom and wry wit. A lover of animals and provider of treats, Kathie lost two beloved dogs: Cleo, who passed away in 2009, right after Michael's demise, and JoJo who passed days after Kathie. They were her companions in business, adventure, and life.
She is survived by her sister, nieces, nephews, daughter, large extended family and many friends. She was a bright star who continues to glow.
Memorial Tree Planting
We look forward to planting a memorial tree for Kathie in Heckscher Park, Huntington where she often came to walk her beloved dog Jo-Jo and to listen to music. You can participate in making this possible by donating to her Memorial Tree fund. Any additional funds raised beyond the cost of the tree planting will be gifted to The Huntington Arts Council to support their free summer concert series in the park.
