Description
in essence explores trans embodiment and spiritual exile, drawing on the history of how trans/queer people have been demonized rather than seen as healers. It is a reimagining of the ascension process, and it is both a reclamation and a conjuring. The work explores how intuitive/occult practices can be spiritually supportive when traditional spiritual community has been denied for so many of us. The work travels through a series of vignettes inspired by occult symbolism, like the imagery in tarot and the different planetary significations in astrology. These tools have allowed this work to emerge with care, co-regulation, and spiritual precision. This performance functions like a ritual — creating an offering where trans communities can witness ourselves as divine, resilient, and visionary.
