Description
Kipori Woods is a New Orleans-raised guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and recording artist whose music reflects a lifetime spent moving naturally between blues, jazz, soul, rock, and the roots of American country music.
Born in Texas and raised in New Orleans from the age of two, Woods came of age inside one of America’s richest musical cultures. His musical lineage reaches directly into the history of Louisiana guitar through his grandfather, Lloyd Lambert, whose band recorded with the legendary Guitar Slim. But Woods’ identity as an artist has never been defined by inheritance alone. He developed it on the bandstands of New Orleans.
Over the course of his career, Woods has performed in the musical circles surrounding some of Louisiana’s most respected artists. His history includes work and associations with musicians including Walter “Wolfman” Washington and the Roadmasters, Davell Crawford, Cyril Neville, and other members of New Orleans’ expansive musical community.
