With dramatic LED uplighting of trees and over 14,000 feet of lighting throughout landscapes and gardens, Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden will be completely transformed. Visitors can explore Klehm like never before on a half-mile journey through spookily lit landscapes and not-so-scary, family-friendly displays and activities, including:
- Getting lost in the massive (2,500 sq. ft) Children’s Spooky Straw Bale Maze
- Creating lifelong memories with Special Photo-Opportunity Displays
- Shopping at the Ghostly Market for special Halloween items
- Enjoying themed refreshments offered by The Vintage Goose Cafe
- Viewing Haunted Balloon Creations crafted by Ms. Twisty Pants (only on Wednesdays)
- Seeing Rockford’s Biggest Pumpkin, projected to weigh in at more than 1,800 pounds
“A chill in air means that Halloween’s festive spirit is right around the corner, and Eerie Autumn Lights provides an ideal setting for families and individuals to gather, celebrate, and create new memories at this awe-inspiring, first-of-its-kind event for our region,” said Alex Mills, Executive Director, Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden. “We look forward to offering a new tradition for visitors to enjoy each fall, and cannot wait to hear the stories and see the photos of the community enjoying this event.”
In addition to the month-long activities, Rockford’s own Master Carver Lincoln Bias from Food Network’s “Outrageous Pumpkins” will be at Eerie Autumn Lights on October 17-19 to begin carving the 1,800-pound pumpkin in front of visitors.
“We’re thrilled to have Lincoln here at home in Rockford for this first-ever event,” said Mills. “This amazing one-of-a-kind experience will astound attendees with the breathtaking skills that will be put on display.”
