Description
konverjdans, the women-led, Brooklyn-based contemporary ballet company co-founded and co-directed by Amy Saunder, Jordan Miller, and Tiffany Mangulabnan, launches its ninth New York season with the premiere of Buried Giants, an imaginative multimedia dance-theater work inspired by Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Buried Giant.
Blending contemporary ballet with theatrical storytelling, original music, design, and projected film, Buried Giants is set in a fog-shrouded world where memory is erased by a mysterious mist. The story follows Axl and Beatrice, a couple driven by visions of a lost past. Through dreamlike encounters with fantastical beings, their journey uncovers buried truths and asks what is gained—and what is lost—when painful histories are forgotten, and how memory shapes both personal and collective identity.
