Date / Time:  August 20th 9:30/10:00am start

Where:  We will be meeting at the Town Center (Entrance near the curved stone wall). Parking will be available in the South lot.

Event:

The Salvation Army’s Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Camden NJ is one of the country's largest in the area totaling just over 120,000 sq. ft. Full of innovative and sustainable programming, the center was built to advance the organization’s unique family and community-oriented mission. The tour will be led by the Project Architect and Project Manager from Kitchen & Associates who will describe successful and innovative applications of daylighting in interior spaces through intelligent building design, systems and material selection. The use of daylighting within these spaces enhance the safety of spaces and both the health and welfare of building occupants. The tour guide will also review important aspects of designing an open, healthy, community-oriented facility while maintaining safety and security in a community center.

The event will start off on Saturday at 9:30 with networking and morning refreshments (tour starts at 10am). Families / Kids are welcome to attend the tour. Registration is limited to 30 max, so RSVP today!

 

Learning Objectives:

Objective 1:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe successful and innovative applications of daylighting in interior spaces through intelligent building design, systems and material selection to enhance the safety of spaces and both the health and welfare of building occupants.

Objective 2:
At the end of this tour, participants will be able to summarize issues of designing an open, healthy, community-oriented facility, while maintaining safety and security in a community center.

Objective 3:
At the end of this tour, participants will be able to list what is involved with developing comprehensive public/private partnerships in the built urban environment that imparts safety and welfare for the neighborhood and building occupants.

Objective 4:
At the end of this tour, participants will be able to identify long-term advantages for building owners/operators in designing facilities with energy conservation and material durability and sustainability in mind—especially multi-use facilities with indoor natatorium environments as part of their program.
