Launch Pad 2027: Workshops for Working Musicians

Get your 2027 performance season off to a strong start before the year even begins.

The first session of Launch Pad 2027 is a practical, hands-on workshop built around two essentials of getting gigs: presenting yourself professionally and knowing how to make the ask.

We’ll start by breaking down the modern Electronic Press Kit (EPK): what bookers actually need to see, what you can leave out, how to organize your photos, bio, music, video and live information, and how to build an EPK that makes it easy for someone to understand who you are and what you do.

After dinner, we’ll turn our attention to booking the gig.

Joining host Dan Tait is guest mentor Mitch Howanyk — Lead Booker at Red Bird Brewing, Owner/Operator of MMM Events, and a professional musician with more than 20 years of experience.

Together, we’ll look at booking from both sides of the inbox: approaching venues, writing effective pitches, communicating with bookers, rates and negotiations, contracts, invoicing, follow-ups, and the habits that can turn one booking into an ongoing professional relationship.
