Session 4 — Mental Health & Sustainability for Artists

Launch Pad 2027: Workshops for Working Musicians

How do you build a life in music that you can actually keep living?

Back by popular demand, Mental Health & Sustainability for Artists returns to Launch Pad for a conversation about something that can easily get lost amongst the gigs, applications, social media, travel, rehearsals and constant hustle: the person doing all of it.

Joining host Dan Tait is returning guest mentor Aidan Mayes — singer-songwriter, music educator and mental health advocate. Together, Dan and Aidan bring more than 30 years of experience navigating the realities, rewards and challenges of building lives around music.

This workshop isn’t about optimizing every hour of your day or finding another way to squeeze more productivity out of yourself. Instead, we’ll explore practical ways to build a creative career that leaves room for rest, relationships, physical health, community, creativity and a life outside of work.

We’ll talk about maintaining healthy practices both at home and on the road, stepping offline, breaking routine to spark creativity, movement and exercise, nutrition, sleep, boundaries, substance use and sobriety, loneliness and isolation, comparison, burnout, and the importance of maintaining community in an industry that can sometimes feel remarkably solitary.

We’ll also make room for conversation. Artists will be encouraged to share what’s worked for them, ask questions, and learn from one another — because sustainability doesn’t look exactly the same for everyone.

Monday, November 9 · 5–8pm
The Stage Studio — The Bloc Creative Campus
2041 Harvey Ave, Kelowna, BC

Admission is $65 per workshop, or grab a Launch Pad 2027 Season Pass and attend all six workshops for $300.

Dinner is included! A vegan-friendly meal will be prepared for you by your host, Dan Tait.

Come ready for an open conversation about how we can make music, pursue ambitious careers, take care of ourselves, and still have something left when we get home.

A note about this workshop: Dan Tait and Aidan Mayes are not registered therapists or medical professionals. This is a peer-led professional development workshop based on lived experience and their combined 30+ years working in music. It is not intended as a substitute for professional mental-health care. If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis, please seek support from an appropriate healthcare or crisis-support provider.

Real tools. Real conversations. Get ready for 2027.
