Nomie K. Baker created Lavender Laughs in Atlanta, Georgia in 2021, where it was the first and only LGBTQIA+ and Women open mic in the city.
Moving home to New York City in 2022, Nomie brought LL to Queens with open mics across Astoria, Sunnyside and Woodside.
The open mic has found a new home in Brooklyn at Mary's Bar 2nd and 4th Thursdays.
Past shows include an outdoor show in Jackson Heights, shows at Secret Theatre in Woodside (Very Jewish Much Muslim Ramadan and Passover sold out in 2023!), and other events at Sanger Hall (Queens Pride after party and Cultivating Lavender: Producing Q&A),
Lavender Laughs is excited to host Lavender Purim at Cool Beans! in Woodside.
