About Le Cours de Danse (Ballet in French)

LCD is a children’s ballet program started by Julia Battist in 2015. Our mission is to bring French-infused ballet classes and mentorship to a growing community of children and their families in DC.  Since 2018, we have partnered with the Dance Institute of Washington.

Our classes provide ages 3 to 12 with a foundation in classical dance at recreational level. Students learn a dance curriculum based on the French method. Our partnership with DIW provides students seeking to continue their training to matriculate into DIW’s pre-professional school. Many families attending the program are originally from different parts of the world (Europe, South America, South East Asia). Some students are francophone, but it is not required.
