Our Service Area is a subset of the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes Council, located in De Pere, Wisconsin. We have almost 400 girls registered as Girl Scouts and over 160 registered Adult volunteers as of 2/2024. Our Service Area organizes many events throughout the year including a 5-day long day camp in August.
Description
An event just for the adults in our Service Area that will be educational AND fun! Door County offers so many fabulous things to do-things that you can do with your Scouts that you may not be aware of. This trip is designed to show you places to take your Scouts, whether for the day or the weekend. But don't worry-there will be time for you as well!
We will leave the Park& Ride at 172/County GV (in Bellevue) at 7:45 am. Our first stop will be Cave Point County Park, on Lake Michigan. It's a great place to wander around on the shore, build a stone pillar and watch the exhuberant jumpers. After Cave Point, we'll travel to The Ridges Sanctuary nature preserve, just north of Bailey's Harbor. Here we'll learn all about the ridges and swails and maybe even walk to the range lights and lakeshore. There is an educational center and store located there as well.
After The Ridges, we'll scoot across the peninsula to Peninsula State Park, where we will walk or climb the newer observation tower-the views are outstanding! With the new tower, you now have the option to use the walkway instead of climbing the stairs. Then we head onto Egg Harbor, where you will have ample opportunity to wander around, even grab a late lunch if you desire.
From Egg Harbor, we will travel to Carlsville, where you can partake in wine tasting at the Door Peninsula Winery, or spirits at Door County Distillery, or just head across the road to the shops.
Then we head back home!

Dress: Please dress appropriately for the weather and some walking
Right now our limit is 24-if we have interest for more, I will see about getting another bus.
