Legacy at the Table: Celebrating Memphis Art with Karen Carrier
This summer, Karen Carrier sets the table and invites you to celebrate Memphis art during an exclusive, intimate evening.
The Memphis food artist—whose career began here, took shape in New York, and brought her back to build some of the city's most distinctive restaurants—will honor the artists who have shaped Memphis's creative life, and whose influence is seen today in museums, restaurants, studios, and galleries in the city and beyond.
Drawn from the people and places that shaped her work, Carrier’s menu takes its theme from the rich history of the Memphis College of Art (MCA)—the school where she, like generations of Memphis artists, got her start. Wine is included with every ticket.
Legacy at the Table runs alongside the exhibition Memphis College of Art, 1936–2020: An Enduring Legacy.

Sept. 23, 2026 – Creative Momentum: Memphis College of Art’s Contemporary Era
Carrier closes the series with MCA’s later decades, when experimentation, collaboration, and creative risk-taking shaped a new generation of artists. This evening celebrates the artists who carried MCA’s influence into studios, classrooms, galleries, businesses, and communities across Memphis and beyond.

Memphis College of Art, 1936–2020: An Enduring Legacy is presented by Raymond James, with supporting sponsorship from Henry Luce Foundation, Grinder Taber Grinder, and Formanek Foundation. The exhibition is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Wyeth Foundation for American Art, Anonymous, The James Lee House, Ellen and Brig Klyce, KC and Jeff Warren, Doug Carpenter + Associates, Kaywin Feldman and Jim Lutz, and the Art Now Collective.
The exhibition is part of the 2026 Tennessee Triennial, a statewide initiative celebrating contemporary artists and highlighting the strength and diversity of Tennessee’s visual art scene. The museum is proud to join the Frist Art Museum, the Knoxville Museum of Art, and the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga in this important collaboration.
