Description

Dive into the intriguing history of Port Townsend’s early years, anchored in popular stories of local lore, each paired with historical investigation that reveals how we know what we know - and what may always remain a mystery.

 

Drawing from some of the more infamous, mysterious, and salacious accounts of the past, this fun and analytical tour through the picturesque downtown district explores how documents, photographs, physical evidence, and stories passed down over time all shape our understanding of the past.

Tour Details

  • 0.75 miles - approx. 80 minutes

  • Flat, ADA-accessible route, some public seating available

  • Tour groups limited to approximately 12 people or less.

Pricing

  • $15 members | $20 non-members (Not sure of your status? Check your membership card or email membership@jchsmuseum.com)

  • Walking tour tickets include same-day admission to the Museum of Art + History. If your tour takes place on a day when the museum is closed, you'll receive a guest pass for admission on the next day the museum is open (click here for museum hours).

Registration

  • Pre-registration strongly encouraged, as tour capacity is limited. A confirmation email will be sent via SimpleTix - check spam if not received.

  • As part of the historical context of Port Townsend, this tour includes themes that some guardians may not feel is suitable for their children. It was written with adult audiences in mind, and younger children typically do not find the content or tour length especially engaging.
