Description

Macon Concert Association presents Macon native Dr. Leona Green-Turner, soprano.

Her captivating presentations have garnered numerous awards in competitions such as the District of North Carolina Encouragement award for the Metropolitan Opera National Council.  Others include the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the William Knight Competition, and the Music Teachers National Association, which named her the national winner of their Young Artist Competition. She was awarded a young artist prize from the Asolo Festival and Institute for Song Interpretation, in northern Italy.

Dr. Green-Turner is a native of Macon, GA. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Shorter College (Shorter University), a Master of Music and Doctoral degree from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Carmen Pelton and her mentor Dr. Louise Toppin. She earned a Post-Graduate Performance Diploma from Indiana University where she also studied with the Metropolitan Opera world-renowned soprano Carol Vaness.
