Description

This Jane’s Walk, taking place in Atlanta’s Little Five Points, focuses on themes of History & Culture.

Join us and see why Atlanta’s Little 5 Points is unlike anywhere else!

  • Explore the eclectic past of L5P, where streetcars shaped Inman & Candler Park in the late 1800s, and L5P emerged as a commercial hub in the 1920s. By the 1960s, decline loomed, but the 1970s brought a revival, thanks to passionate community efforts.
  • Walk through L5P’s history, from its unique architecture to its cultural landmarks. Visit the Little 5 Points Community Center, once a school, now an artistic cornerstone. Discover how Don Bender and Kelly Jordan’s activism saved L5P from a planned highway, preserving its character and fostering its creative spirit.
  • Experience the blend of old and new as we showcase legacy businesses alongside fresh additions, such as the L5P Pub.

This tour unveils the visionaries who fought for L5P’s future—ensuring it remains a haven for artists, rebels, and free spirits!

About Jane's Walk

Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.

The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.

About Walk Leaders, Kelly Jordan & Don Bender

Don Bender and Kelly Jordan are both longtime community developers of Little 5 Points. Through their efforts in the 70s and 80s, the neighborhood we love today was successfully preserved (and given so much character).
