Description

Research presentation: Lore + London: The (Un)Definitive Story

You've likely heard the story that Jack London spent a night in Port Townsend's City Hall jail. The story has been told for generations, and there is no shortage of claims that seem to back it up. Join JCHS staff as we sift through the records, separate fact from folklore, and test theories in search of the truth - or at least the most definitive answer we can find.

We'll follow leads, hit dead ends, uncover surprising clues, and explore the role of Port Townsend in the Klondike Gold Rush era. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of how history is uncovered, and why the search can be just as compelling as the conclusion.
