Join us for a thought‑provoking conversation inspired by our exhibit “Love of Liberty: The Revolutionary Spirit of Rosedale.” This special panel brings together historians and scholars to explore the many sides of the American Revolution — and how its ideals, conflicts, and consequences shaped the people connected to Rosedale.

Visit the exhibit in our historic house museum, then hear perspectives on the British view of the Revolution, the ways Rosedale’s early families were tied to the fight for independence, and the often‑overlooked African‑American experience during this turbulent era. From loyalty and rebellion to freedom and contradiction, our speakers will unpack the complex stories that defined the founding of the nation.

This program deepens the exhibit’s themes and invites guests to consider how the Revolutionary spirit echoed through generations — including those whose voices were historically marginalized.

The event is FREE and open to the public! Join us for an afternoon of insight, dialogue, and discovery at one of Charlotte’s most treasured historic sites.

Historic Rosedale Foundation

The Mission of Historic Rosedale Foundation is threefold: to educate, to preserve and to continue to build a more diverse and inclusive platform for interpretation. We shall: 1) Present an authentic view of five generations of the Frew, Caldwell and Davidson families, and the enslaved and free African Americans that lived and worked on the land; 2) Preserve and interpret the 1815 historic house and the surrounding buildings emphasizing the important role these white and black families held in Charlotte, NC; 3) Provide and maintain a peaceful green space with Treasure Trees, garden borders, native and heirloom plants within a highly developed urban corridor.
