Description
Spend your lunch break surrounded by art and music during Lunchtime Strings: Arcadia Quartet in Concert, a free 30-minute performance in the heart of the museum. From 12:30 to 1:00 PM, enjoy the lyrical beauty of Florence Price’s String Quartet No. 1 in G Major, a radiant work by one of the most significant African-American women composers of the 20th century. It’s paired with Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor, a gripping, emotionally layered piece composed under the weight of Soviet censorship.
This live performance features the Arcadia String Quartet, a talented graduate student ensemble from the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Whether you're stopping by on your lunch break or planning a midday cultural escape, this concert offers a unique blend of history, artistry, and emotion.
This concert is free and open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
