Ease in your day gently with this movement-based workshop from Halena Lou! Leaning on Halena's 20+ years experience in the world of dance, this class focuses on lyrical jazz dance technique - with an emphasis on softness, long lines, smooth movements, and storytelling - as a skillset for burlesque performers. This class will complement other technique classes you may take, such as commercial heels, floorwork, and classic burlesque styles, and will provide another base of movement style and language.
The workshop will include: brief discussion about lyrical jazz technique; gentle body warm up; exercises breaking down key leg, foot, arm, and hand positions and movements based on lyrical jazz; and learning a short open-level choreography to work on putting these skills together. Designed for dancers in heels, but heels and all shoes are optional.
