Description

Fresh off their acclaimed debut at Ireland’s premier music industry showcase, 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award winners Maggie’s Wake are back on home soil — and touring their electrifying fusion of Celtic tradition and roots swagger. Expect driving jigs and reels, soaring whistles, double fiddle, flashes of country twang not to mention Cajun/global roots twists that’s pure joy from start to finish.

This female-fronted folk-celtic crew from London came together only in late 2022 and quickly began touring Ontario, playing small halls, some festivals and theatres, which went over so well that they actually sold out many dates on their first “Spirit of the Season” holiday tour that December. Since then, they’ve been invited to showcase at key music conferences across Canada and the United States, with a whirlwind 2026 and 2027 schedule on the books. Their debut, self-titled album won the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award for ‘New Artist of the Year’, they just released their Holiday EP, ‘Close to Home’, and they’re serving up their sophomore album this Spring… not bad for a band formed only a few short years ago.

Their work is 100% original, penned by Tara Dunphy and Lindsay Schindler, and their first single, Bridget O’Brien, won the North East Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Songwriting Award. After their NERFA showcase, they were told that if Maggie’s Wake was a soup, it would be a hearty bowl of everyone’s favourite folk styles finished with a dash of Loretta Lynn and a pinch of Nick Lowe. Doesn’t that sound delicious?!

At the heart of the band are Tara Dunphy, an award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (The Rizdales, Luther Wright and the Wrongs), and Lindsay Schindler, a dynamic violinist and composer (Rant Maggie Rant, Trent Severn). Backed by the rock-solid rhythm section of Andrew Kosty on bass and Kenneth Palmer on guitar, Maggie’s Wake delivers the kind of chemistry and craftsmanship that turns heads—and wins hearts.
