This class is inspired directly from artist Amanda Evanston. All credit is given to her. The fee for this class is for materials only, including an 11”x14” shadow box.
Process art is an art practice which is sometimes used as a tool to navigate difficult emotions that people may not want or be able to discuss with words. Sometimes it is difficult to find word to express what we are feeling inside. Art can be the language we use for such expression.
This is a class and process that may feel helpful in expressing emotions we are struggling with. Art is a great way to express ourselves. Please know, this class is not a substitution for counseling, or other mental health services.
We will create a 3 dimensional Heart using found and created materials, inspired by the magpie.
The magpie is bird that makes elaborate, nests from twigs, straw, mud, and scavenged pieces of litter and refuse. The nests are surprisingly strong and can be found all over the world, Despite tough circumstances, magpies not only survive, but thrive, because of their unusual nests. Taking inspiration from the magpies and pairing their methods with the sacred symbol of a heart, we can create a powerful image.
WHAT THE IS CLASS IS: This class is for those seeking some solace, comfort, strategy, hope, release, language, for and from difficult emotions and times.
WHAT THIS CLASS IS NOT: this class is not for children or for those simply wanting to make a decorative piece.
