2001 32nd Avenue NorthwestAmerican Mahjong (often called American Mah Jongg) is a fun, social tile game that combines strategy, pattern-building, and a little luck. Typically played with four players, the goal is to create specific hands using tiles drawn and discarded during the game.
American Mahjong follows rules set by the National Mah Jongg League, with a new card released each year—keeping the game fresh and exciting. It’s easy to learn, endlessly engaging, and best enjoyed with good company, conversation, and a few laughs around the table.

New to Mahjong? This beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start. Mahjong 101 is an introduction to American Mahjong designed for those who have never played (or want a clear refresher). In a relaxed and welcoming environment, you’ll learn the fundamentals of the game so you can confidently sit down at the table and play. We’ll cover tile basics, game setup, how to read the National Mah Jongg League card, and the flow of a full hand — with plenty of guided practice along the way. No prior experience is required, and all materials are provided.
