This class is designed to take you from total newbie to confident player in a single session. We will cover everything you need to know—from tiles to table talk—so you can start your own game with friends right away. Bring your curiosity and leave with a new favorite pastime!

Melanie Johnson is the founder and friendly face behind the School of Mahj, launched in 2025 to share her passion for American mahjong with new players. She is a member of the Mahj Life Instructors Guild, a network of mahjong teachers committed to the highest standards of instruction using National Mah Jongg League rules.
