What if constraints were our design tools?
This final MAKE @ MODA workshop is part of a hands-on series inspired by Do More Art and focuses on how limitations can sharpen ideas rather than hold them back.
Guests will work with simple stencils to explore shape, positive and negative space, and controlled repetition. Through layered passes and small shifts in placement, participants will see how clarity, rhythm, and variation emerge from working within a defined set of constraints.
The session brings together ideas explored throughout the series—pattern, iteration, and process—while remaining welcoming to first-time attendees. The focus is not on making something elaborate, but on discovering how strong design can come from restraint.
What to Expect:
- Stencils as design tools. Use simple shapes to create clarity, contrast, and strong visual structure.
- Positive and negative space. Explore how what is left out can carry as much weight as what is printed.
- Repetition with control. Work with consistent forms while introducing variation through placement, layering, and rhythm.
Perfect for adults curious about design and process-based making, this workshop blends hands-on exploration with design thinking. You will leave with a small series of layered works and a new appreciation for what repetition can do.
