At The Bighorn, we hear it all the time:
“Do you have any red blends?”
“Yes—most of our red wines are red blends.
The term "red blends" gets tossed around so loosely, but very few people actually know what it means. Until now! In this class we will taste through the six red grape varietals allowed in a Bordeaux red blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot & Carmenere. After tasting each grape, guests will guess which wine is which grape, think about what we like or do not like about each and learn their own palate preferences.
Guests will then be able to mix and match those 6 wines in various combinations to see what happens when they are blended together. Once guests have selected their favorite blend, we will taste them side by side with others created in the class. Only after all of the blends have been created will we reveal which wines were which grapes.
Do you think the grapes you believe to be your favorites will be as we taste them blind? We will find out on Sunday!
Our typical wine class is $50. This class is $65 as we will be sampling through and opening more bottles to allow for more blending and experimentation!
